COMPELLING FACTS ABOUT MAURITIUS:-
It is situated in the Indian Ocean over a thousand miles from the southeastern coast of Africa, the gorgeous island called Mauritius with wonderful sandy beaches, coral reefs, forested mountains and beautiful national parks and gardens it has so much to offer and there is much to see and do on a vacation here.
This island was uninhabited by humans until the Arabs landed there in the Middle Ages and they named this island Dine Arobi. After that the Portuguese came next, calling the island Cine.
Mauritius is been encircled by a broken ring of mountain ranges composed of extinct volcanoes, streams, waterfalls and rivers, all covered in forests.
Mauritius is surrounded by lagoons and they are protected from the open sea, being the world’s third largest coral reef, which surrounds the island. These reefs protect beachgoers from attacks by sharks and jellyfish. About 93 miles(150 km) of white sandy beaches are on Mauritius.
Mauritius’s republic is composed of that island as well Rodrigues, Agalega, and the Saint Brandon archipelago.
Mauritius have Water sports such as scuba and snorkeling, water skiing and sailing, are popular activities. Islands like Balaclava, Blue Bay, Rodrigues, Belle Mare, Flic en Flac, Pereybere, and Trou aux Biches are key sites for these activities.
The le aux Cerfs is a tiny leisure island but it has a gorgeous beach and is a paradise for water sports. Sunbathing and laying off Trou d’Eau Douce in Mauritius’ largest lagoon, Mauritius has an adventure park and 18-hole golf course and beach restaurants as well.
Popular beaches include Le Morne, Mont Choisy (with crystal clear water and water sports available) and Flic en Flac Beach with its beautiful shade trees.
Portuguese arrived in 1507 and in the absence of terrestrial animals on the island allowed for the evolution of flightless birds and large reptiles on Mauritius. Like the four million-year-old relative of the pigeon called the Dodo.
Mauritius main attraction is the Seven Colored Earth. This area of open land consists of sand dunes in seven different colors- brown, red, violet, purple, blue, green and yellow and it is very famous in Mauritius.
The Blue Bay beach of Trou d’ Argent on Rodrigues Island has crystal clear water and is very quiet and a perfect ideal spot for sailing and windsurfing.
